Not Quite Perfect - Annie Lyons with Giveaway!

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Sara from Carina books and was told I had been nominated by Dawn over at crooksonbooks to receive #NotQuitePerfect pack.

This was to help promote their first title being published in paperback. Carina came up with a fantastic and unique way of launching this paperback, in the form of a chain. I was fourth in the chain and Dawn nominated me with this quote:

'You're #NotQuitePerfectBut you're always upbeat, positive and encouraging to everyone no matter what sort of day you are having yourself, thank you for your support, you're amazing.'

When I read this from Dawn, it actually bought a tear to my eyes, it was completely unexpected and to think someone I have never met in real life had such a nice thing to say to me, really made me feel special. So thank you Sara for creating the chain and to Dawn especially for nominating me.

Right now that is over back to the project!

Not Quite Perfect is Annie Lyons upcoming title along with Dear Lizzie, which focus very much on sisterhood. Not Quite Perfect is also about embraces community, sisterhood and positivity.

Blurb:

'Sometimes having it all isn’t enough…

Emma has everything she’s ever wanted. Her boyfriend’s just proposed and her career has finally taken off. And so what if her latest client just happens to be downright gorgeous? She’s getting married. Isn’t she?

Rachel’s married with 2.4 children (well, actually, 3) and life is all about trying to leave the house in a non-stained top. Once it was about skinny cappuccinos, cocktails and dynamic ad agency meetings. She wants her old life back, but can it ever be the same?

A sparkling, funny tale of two sisters and how often you don’t know what you’ ve got until it’s gone.'

What Perfect Means to Me:

Perfect to me is that in actual fact someone who is not perfect, but give off a persona that they are. A typical example of this is in Desperate Housewives they all live in a 'perfect' street, where everyone is 'perfect'. However beneath the surface no one in the street is perfect and there are secrets that are being hid from the 'outside' world.

As individuals they all stride to be perfect and want others in the street to believe that they are, but they are not and far from perfect on the inside. I believe that 'Perfect' doesn't actually exist and if it did the world would be a boring place.

Different experiences in life mold you to who you are today and many of those experiences you have are not perfect and things that you would maybe not have expected to happen to you or things would would have chosen. Saying this, these things make you stronger as a person, it also tests you as a person and being able to get through things although you are not perfect make you into a better person.

Some may think that it is a bit depressing that I think no one is perfect and that it doesn't exist, however I believe that is what gives us our personalities and shapes us into the people we are.

I believe that if you go about your day, trying to make someone smile and being generally cheerful to everyone you come across; it can help brighten someones day and although you are not perfect you have added a little joy to that person you have encountered.

The Chain:

I was the fourth in the chain, which means I had to go on to nominate someone else to become the fifth. For me this was an easy decision and I decided that I would nominate Suzanne from librarianlavender and here is why:

“You're #NotQuitePerfectBut you always look on the positive and put all your energy into creating a brilliant blog. You make me smile and have become a real friend, in the short time I have known you. Thank you for being there.”

You can also visit her blog to continue along on the chain here

  3. I believe that all those imperfect things make one big perfection. I love this song, especially the part: "Love all your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=450p7goxZqg
