I Heart Forever by Lindsey Kelk

I Heart Forever (I Heart Series, Book 7)I Heart Forever by Lindsey Kelk
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

inter in Manhattan…and someone’s keeping a secret.
The day her husband Alex picks up a backpack and goes travelling, Angela Clark promises to stay out of trouble and keep both Louboutins on the ground.
So when her best friend’s boyfriend confides in her, it can’t hurt to help him pick out a ring at Tiffany’s surely?
And when her fashion magazine announces major changes, being terminally late and arguing with your boss isn’t that bad, is it?
Then suddenly there’s another big secret Angela’s got to keep – and the man she loves is still thousands of miles away. As the wedding of the year looms, and Manhattan switches on its Christmas lights, Angela is going to need her friends by her side as her old life looks set to change forever.

Lindsey Kelk is one of my favourite authors, I absolutely love her writing style, she always has me grinning from ear to ear and racing through her books. This, I heart Forever is no exception!

Now, if you don't know Lindsey Kelk and haven't read any of her novels before, all I can say is where have you been? This is obviously not the best book to start with, being 7th in the series but this is a must read, so you have to start from the beginning!

Although this was predictable it made no difference to my enjoyment of the book, being back in Angela's world is like going home. Angela and Alex are still happily married and Angela is now an editor Gloss, a woman's magazine. Everything is going well for Angela until Alex tells her he wants to go travelling around South Asia, this is something he has always wanted to do, but has limited time working in a band. After a gap in their schedule, he decides this is the perfect time to jet off, but that is without Angela. Not to worry, Angela now has a wedding to look forward to!

This is a perfect installment to the I heart series, this is a comfort read, which will make you want more. I am assuming this is the last in the series, which is a shame but I guess all good things have to come to an end at some time. If this really is the end of the series I do hope Lindsey has something up her sleeve as I have been left wanting more from her.

I would like to thank the publisher for sending this in exchange for an honest review.

We Were On A Break by Lindsey Kelk blog tour

We Were On a BreakWe Were On a Break by Lindsey Kelk
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Is it a break? Or is it a blip?

‘You’ve just had a holiday,’ I pointed out, trying not to yawn. ‘Wasn’t that enough of a break?’
‘I don’t mean that kind of break.’

There’s nothing worse than the last day of holiday. Oh wait, there is. When what should have been a proposal turns into a break, Liv and Adam find themselves on opposite sides of the life they had mapped out.

Friends and family all think they’re crazy; Liv throws herself into work – animals are so much simpler than humans – and Adam tries to get himself out of the hole he’s dug.

But as the short break becomes a chasm, can they find a way back to each other? Most importantly, do they want to?

I love Lindsey Kelk books and have all of them on my bookshelf for me to return too when I need something humourous. We Were On a Break is a stand alone, which I really loved the idea of. Personally the cover of this one doesn't do it for me, but at they say never judge a book by it's cover!

This book has the trademarks that make a Kelk book, the humour, the romance and the story line.

Adam and Liv are on holiday in Mexico and are having an amazing time, Liv has been told by her best friend Cassie, (who is married to Adam's brother) that Adam is going to propose, so all holiday Liz has been waiting in anticipation. Finally it gets to the final night and it never happens. They end up having a massive row on the plane and once home go their separate ways for what Adam calls 'a break'.

The story is continue to be told through both Liv and Adam's perspective interchanging with the chapters. Initially I found this a little difficult to follow as I had to work out which perspective I was reading, but I actually really enjoyed the story being told in this way. Both the characters go through so many emotions in this book and there are times when you just want to bash their heads together. Although the whole story is them 'breaking up' the story seemed to whiz by and I couldn't believe I had almost finished.

I loved all the characters in this book and there are quite a few of them. I especially loved Daniel Craig, can I have him please??

Personally this is not my favourite book by Lindsey but it is still a great read and one that I will be adding to my collection. I recommend you to get yourself a copy if you love Lindsey's writing as this will not disappoint.

Always the Bridesmaid - Lindsey Kelk

Always the BridesmaidAlways the Bridesmaid by Lindsey Kelk
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The hilarious new novel from Lindsey Kelk, author of the bestselling I Heart series

Everyone loves a bridesmaid - except Maddie, who’s perpetually asked to be one.
Everyone loves a wedding - except Maddie’s best friend, who’s getting divorced.
And everyone loves the way Maddie’s so happy behind the scenes - except Maddie herself.
One best friend is in wedding countdown while the other heads for marriage meltdown. And as Maddie juggles her best chance at promotion in years with bridezilla texts and late-night counselling sessions, she starts to wonder – is it time to stop being the bridesmaid?

I have been a huge fan of the I heart series and since then will read anything and everything that Lindsey Kelk writes. I was really excited when I got the chance to read Always the Bridesmaid and couldn't wait to start.

To be honest this book took me some time to read - this is not something that happens when I read her books, but for some reason I found this pretty tricky to get into. This could have been my own fault, I was unfortunate to not have the time initially to really get into this book and I think maybe that was where the problem lied for me.

This is a fun book, it centres around Maddie, who has been working as an assistant at an events and planning company. She has been there pretty much all her working adult life, she decides that she wants a promotion, but her boss is a nightmare and things for promotion seem bleak. Maddie's two best friends are very different, Lauren has just announced her engagement to a bloke she has only been going out with for just over a year, Sarah drops a bombshell about her marriage and Maddie has been single for two years. She has to endure her parents keep going on about her ex boyfriend and the fact he has just had a baby with his new wife. Maddie as an events planner is keen to help Lauren plan her big day, even though stress levels are rising and she also needs to have the responsibility of being a bridesmaid.

Maddie gets encouraged to go for a promotion at work by the HR department, this would be great for Maddie to finally get out of the role she is currently in, however her friend Sarah also is keen to apply. Maddie, begins to prove herself at the company she is at by taking on a christening, soon she realises perhaps she has taken on more than she can cope with but cannot back down now.

The story is a bit chaotic is places, with Maddie juggling her job, friendships and a new relationship on the horizon, in places I actually felt worn out reading about it. I felt that maybe Kelk could have focused more on one or two of the aspects, as I feel although I enjoyed the story - especially the second half, there was a lot going on.

I think that this is a fun read and although from the blurb and the cover it didn't stand out to me I am glad I took the time to read it. There are funny lines in the novel, not as many as I would have hoped but it still made it an enjoyable read. I loved the format of the book, written as a journal and I enjoyed the last few pages where the text was laid out in different formats. I think it was also a good stand alone, however I don't think it is up to the standard of the I heart series or What a girl wants. I hear Lindsey is bringing out another book from the What a girl wants series, which I cannot wait to get my hands on!

I heart Christmas - Lindsey Kelk

I Heart ChristmasI Heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

'Angela’s planning her very own fairytale of New York…

• Enormous Christmas tree
• Eggnog
• Eccentric British traditions
• Gorgeous man

But Santa’s throwing her a few curveballs – new job (as if it’s not mental enough already), new baby-craze from her best friend Jenny, and Alex determined they should grow up and settle down. Once friends start turning up uninvited on her doorstep (and leading her astray), can Angela really have a merry little Christmas? So much for happy holidays – something’s got to give…'

When I heard that Lindsey Kelk was bringing out 'I heart Christmas' I couldn't wait! I have read all of her other books in the 'I heart' series and loved all of them. Christmas being my favourite time of year mixed with a bit of Angela I thought would be a match made in heaven. I was however a little disappointed, I think I expected a little more Christmas in the book, and I kept looking for it, but didn't find I found it.

I did find the book a little hard to get into which was a shame as I was expecting to love it right from the beginning, as I have with all the other 'I heart' books.

Angela is all loved up in New York with Alex, her best friend Jenny has decided that she wants to have a baby, Angela is not as supportive as perhaps she could be, but then Jenny can be a little erratic and as she is currently not in a stable relationship, Angela doesn't think it's a good idea. In other parts of her life, Angela is going up in the world at the magazine company she works in. She has been given a brilliant opportunity to be in charge for a few months, which could really see her take off. However Angela has reservations about her ability to run the firm. Alex is talking about moving house and Angela gets a surprise visit from her best friend from England Louisa with her toddler in tow, Grace.

To me this book I found was stressful, I didn't think it was very Christmassy and although Angela was beginning her preparations for Christmas I don't think this came across as strong as it could have done in the book. There was one drama after another and I think the Christmas theme got lost.

Overall I did enjoy the book, however I didn't think it lived up to Lindsey's high standard as her other books have. I felt that it was starting to loose it's spark, which I hope this is just a blip as I enjoy her books so much. I felt a lot of issues were bought up in the book and that almost too much was happening at one time.

I would recommend you to read the other 'I heart' books before reading this as it will give you a better understanding of the characters and background knowledge of the story lines. I am glad that I had the opportunity to read this book, however I am hoping the new 'I heart' book is back to the usual standard.

About a Girl - Lindsey Kelk

About a GirlAbout a Girl by Lindsey Kelk
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

'Tess Brookes has always been a Girl with a Plan. But when the Plan goes belly up, she’s forced to reconsider.

After accidently answering her flatmate Vanessa’s phone, she decides that since being Tess isn’t going so well, she might try being Vanessa. With nothing left to lose, she accepts Vanessa’s photography assignment to Hawaii – she used to be an amateur snapper, how hard can it be? Right?

But Tess is soon in big trouble. And the gorgeous journalist on the shoot with her, who is making it very clear he’d like to get into her pants, is an egotistical monster. Far from home and in someone else’s shoes, Tess must decide whether to fight on through, or ‘fess up and run…'

I first discovered Lindsey Kelk as I was walking through the busy airport waiting to board my plane, many, many years ago. This is when I discovered my love for Angela and the I heart series. When I heard Lindsey was bringing out a new book – About A Girl, I knew it was one I needed to read. With that I grabbed myself a copy, and was lucky enough to win an invite with Lindsey for brunch in London, here I found out more about Tess, in About a Girl, a lot more about Nick and the setting in Hawaii. (Now this is my top place to visit after reading the book!) You can read about my brunch with Lindsey here:

Brunch with Lindsey

Tess is successful, she has never done the marriage and kids bit, but her career is going from strength to strength and she has just been told she has been given a promotion. Life couldn’t be better, (unless we talk about the fact she has been in love for the last years with her best mate!) That is until she gets called into the boss’s office to be told they are letting her go. – How can they be letting her go when she hasn’t even started her new job? Tess cannot believe it, everything she has ever worked for just gone?

Her other best friend Amy is round hers as soon as she finds out what has happened to Tess, luckily Tess’s flatmate (Vanessa) isn’t in, she is off on a shoot somewhere – she is a fashion photographer. Amy and Vanessa do not get go, and never have. Things seem to go from bad to worse for Tess over the next few days, so when an opportunity turns up that sounds much better than her life at the moment what has she got to lose?

This is a brilliantly written, witty read. Lindsey Kelk writes so well, her ability to put so much humour in her books while still keeping the story line good is a talent in itself. She comes out with some brilliant one liners that actually have you laughing out loud! This is a fantastic summer read, I was only sad that it was over so quickly. This is defiantly one for your bookshelf as it is a book you would want to read again and again. I was so pleased when I heard there will be a sequel to About a Girl, the characters are great, the story line it great. It’s just a shame we have to wait so long to read it!
