I enjoyed this book - it's the third in a series although I had not read the first two books I don't think it really mattered much, well written and in the style of the 'Shopaholic' books, this is about Georgia and Ben who have a travel business and the ups and downs of running a business and being together 24/7. They embark on a trip to Chile to take part in a television programme with 3 other couples on running a business but it's not all they thought it might be. Some genuinely hilarious situations occur and it's a great light hearted easy read. I would definitely like to read the other two books although they do go in sequence I am sure they would be just as entertaining.

A great holiday read especially if you like the 'Shopaholic' series - I would definitely recommend this and it gets an easy 5 stars from me.

Holiday TBR

So I have waited years for this holiday, I think 2 years ago it was being planned, for my Father in laws special birthday. I cannot believe it has finally come round. Tomorrow morning I will be arriving at the airport to check in. Before I headed off I thought after sending a tweet a few weeks ago, asking if anyone would be interested in reading my TBR for my holiday and it being so popular, that I would do one. So here goes... I am going to be taking a mixture of ebooks, audio books and paperbacks. 

Audio Books:

The audio books I have on my kindle and on my iphone that I want to listen to on the plane are:

The Year I Met You - Cecelia Ahern. I am currently in the middle of this audio book, it is one that I really want to get stuck into but never had a long enough period to listen to it. I am hoping this will be a good one for the plane. I think I have about 7 hours left to listen to, so hopefully I would be able to finish this one. 

The Last Anniversary - Liane Moriarty. This is an audio book that I am really looking forward to, however it is over 14 hours long - this is another for a really long plane journey! I am hoping that on the flight home I may get to listen to this one. I do have this in paper back, but I do feel I would enjoy listening to one of Moriarty's books as they are so good! I have high hopes for this audio and I am hoping that the narrator doesn't let me down! 

Ebooks: 

Well I will be taking my kindle away with me so technically anything I have on it that I have not read I may end up reading, however the one ebook I would like to read while I am away is: 

The Secrets Sisters Keep - Sinead Moriarty. I was lucky enough to be able to discover Moriarty last year when I read, Mad about you. This was a brilliant novel, which I raced through. That was the onle book I had read before and I was keen to try others. I that this sitting on my kindle to be read and this is certainly going to be one that I hope to pick up.

Paper backs: 

Paper backs are always a hard choice for me when I go on holiday. I love to actually turn pages in a book and I want to make sure that I have the opportunity to do that while I am away. The thing is that I need to be in the mood normally to read a type of genre and because I am limited to the books I take I always want to know I have one that I will fancy reading. This is why I am normally over my luggage allowance!! So this has been a difficult call for me and I will be taking more than it is possible for me to read, just so I know I am covering all basis. As I am only going for a week too, this means I do have more space in my luggage :D. 

The Sudden Departure of the Frasers - Louise Candlish. This is a book that I have had for quite a few months now, sitting on my TBR pile. I have desperately wanted to read it but it has been way too early to release a review. It is due out near the end of May so I figured I could read it now. This sounds so intriguing that I really can not wait any longer. 

Walk on By - Stacey Solomon. I have decided to take this book with me as I think it will be a quick and easy read. It sounds like they type of read you want on holiday. I have also had this a little while sitting waiting to be reviewed, so this is the prefect opportunity for me to read it. 

Wish You Were Here - Catherine Alliott. This is another book I have had sat on my TBR... I know I am a terrible book blogger but unfortunately life has just got in the way lately. This is another book that is a summery holiday read and I am looking forward to getting stuck in. 

So these are my intended reads for while I am away, these may change slightly, (paper backs) and I maybe adding to them.

I have read Jo Carnegie novels before and her writing is easy to read and characters easily identifiable with. This book is another by Jo Carnegie, writing under the name of Ellie Adams. We begin with meeting Lizzy the main character who has been unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend Justin at a fancy dress birthday party where the only costume she could get was Henry VIII and to top it all someone has videoed the whole thing and put it on YouTube adding to her humiliation and embarrassment.

Lizzy is a typical Bridget Jones character; she works for a PR company marketing various products for clients, she is an ordinary girl not a goddess or supermodel, she weighs a few more pounds than she'd like to. she overeats and drinks when she's depressed, sometimes makes disastrous decisions leading to misunderstandings and can never quite say 'no' when she really should but what makes her so likeable is that she comes over as real, flawed like the rest of us and a genuinely nice person.

She faces life's trials and tribulations with the help of her friends Poppet and Nic, two similar singletons living and working in London.

I felt that Nic was introduced to us as just too manly to make her eventual plight believable; I kept thinking that Adams was going to reveal that she was a lesbian but that didn't happen and I never quite felt that she fitted the profile she was given which was a shame as she was a strong independent woman and didn't quite come over as believable with the outcome that Adams gave her.

Poppet was just that, a sweet poppet of a girl, sensitive, hopelessly romantic and seeming to come straight out of a Jane Austin novel, an old fashioned girl trapped in a modern world. I liked Poppet a lot and felt that Adams could have given her more 'air time' in the book, although I accept it was essentially Lizzie's story.

The love interest Elliot was both strong and sensitive although not when we first encounter him, he appears over bearing, rude and selfish but he develops nicely as the book progresses.

The story followed the usual chic lit profile and moved smoothly along but after Lizzy and Elliot became an item it felt as if Adams had run out of ideas and the conflict between them appeared to be a little too contrived and to me Lizzie's reaction to an obstacle (don't want to give anything away) was over dramatic. We were also constantly reminded of the close relationship the friends have and yet Lizzie didn't bother to find out what was wrong with Nic when she fell out with her so this didn't really fit in well with Lizzie's character for me. Lovely moments of humour, loved her mother and sitting down to 'picky bits' for supper, the conversations she has with her client who is trying to promote constipation and get bowel movements on the front of the Mail, and her quest to get Happy Halo 'out there'.

The ending was predictable although it seemed a little bit rushed - overall this was a nice quick read, perfect for taking on holiday, nothing too serious and a good measure of humour. This novel sits up there with the best of the chic lits and I have no problem giving it a 4.5 star rating.

I would like to thank the publisher for sending me a copy to review. The proof copy sent to me however did have typos and needed better proof reading which interrupted the flow and distracted me.

I didn't really know what to expect when I downloaded this story for my kindle. It is a fun holiday read, perfect for the plane or while commuting.

The story is based on Holly, she decides to sign herself up to go to a ski centre for the winter, she was meant to be going with a friend but unfortunately that is no longer possible. This is totally unlike anything Holly has ever done before, however she takes it in her stride and attends alone. She is not like your typical girls there. Holly begins to try to mix in and in the process meets Scott, who as she finds out soon enough is her boss.

This is a light hearted read. It has everything a girl could want in a novella. The story did seem slightly rushed as it was so short and I felt that it could have been developed.

This book will make you drift off to the ski slopes for a few hours out of your hectic day.

He's the One - Katie Price

Unable to live a lie any more, Liberty returns to England with a reluctant Brooke, to start a new life. While her daughter has to cope with a massive lifestyle change, Liberty finds that she cannot get Cory out of her head.


But will he want her any more? Or will she have to accept that her first love belongs to the past?'




I have read all of Katie Price’s books and I must say I felt a little let down by ‘In the Name of Love’ and was hoping that this would not follow suit.

‘He’s the one’ follows Liberty a young girl, thriving to become an actress and working in an Italian restaurant to get by for her and her daughter Brooke. One day a handsome guy comes into the restaurant with his mates, he is American and takes a shine to Liberty. For the next couple of months Liberty and Cory are inseparable, he is then due to return to the States and Liberty must accept this. Things change quickly for Liberty though and she gets the offer of a lifetime and moves to LA with Brooke; Cory remains in the U.K.

The book then splits into part two, this has been fast-forwarded 14 years and then each chapter is dedicated to either Liberty or Brooke, who is now almost 18. I felt at this part in the book the plot really picked up and I began whizzing through the pages. I enjoyed the story and the drama’s that came along with it. (For anyone who has read Katie Price novels before, you will know there are always many dramas!)

I thought the characters were developed well throughout the book, Liberty is perceived to be a generally lovely person, and at times you really feel for her. Brooke begins as a spoilt brat, having all the money she could ever want and getting what she wants, when she wants it. When Liberty drops a bombshell on Brooke she begins to change as a person and you realise she wasn’t once the girl she was in LA. The characters are well liked and I think this helped massively while reading it.

I also thought that this book was a little more down to earth than Katie’s previous books; we see both characters working in a restaurant, something that many of us do and I feel that this allows the reader to connect better to the book. It is nice to read about celebrities and their lives etc, but us mere mortals have to go a long way to be able to connect to it.

The book is an easy, holiday read and not very taxing – just the type of book I enjoy when I am back at work and things become busy. I thought that this was one of Katie Price’s better novels and it was nice to see returning characters. This does not make a difference, however if you have not read her previous novels.
