The Fox and the Star by Coralie Bickford-Smith

The Fox and the StarThe Fox and the Star by Coralie Bickford-Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

'Once there was a Fox who lived in a deep, dense forest. For as long as Fox could remember, his only friend had been Star, who lit the forest paths each night. But then one night Star wasn't there, and Fox had to face the forest all alone...'

Stunning book. I used this for a literacy unit of work at a primary school, the children were transfixed to it, even though I read a little bit more every day for over 4 weeks.

I have never seen them enjoy a book so much. From a teaching point this is an amazing book for a literacy unit, you can cover so much through it. Non - fiction, poetry, narrative and even science with habitats, food chains etc.

This story is about a fox, who is alone in the forest except Star, Star is fox's only friend and guides Fox through the forest at night. All is well, until one night when Star disappears.

There are no words to describe how fabulous this is, unfortunately I only had the paperback version but the hardback looks beautiful.

This is a book I would recommend to everyone with children, you can get so much from it.
