Pompy & Titany: Hot Things

Pompy & Titany: Hot Things by Kriss Keller

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Be Careful Home books and their main characters, Pompy and Titany, become everyday guardians of your children. They teach them to beware of the dangers as well warn parents to not neglect the safety of children by leaving dangerous objects within their reach.

In this book, Pompy and Titany learn about hot things.

This is a short, sweet picture rhyming book about the dangers of hot things around the home. After a short rhyming introduction to who the characters are, we are taken through the house identifying things that are and could be hot. Not items are obvious such as the sockets, this was a nice addition as it shows the author had really thought about all potential hot hazards in the house. I also thought including the sun, although not in the house was a really good idea as it begins to teach children the dangers of the sun and that it can burn you. Just as the items inside the home.

So, I hear you say why have I only given this book 3* if I think the text is so good in the book. The only and main reason is down to the illustrations. Unfortunately these are just not up to the same standard as other picture books. These have quite clearly been produced on the computer and seem pixelated throughout. This could very well be intentional, however I think if it is, it has been a huge error.

Picture books are very popular with children as they allow them to follow along with the story and understand it well. These images personally I feel don't do the text justice and I am not sure they would keep a child's interest as they seem badly printed.

This is purely my own opinion and I think if the author was to improve the quality of the illustrations this would be a really good picture book, which is informative and would help keep children safe.

I would like to thank the author for sending these in exchange for an honest review.
